Section 504

Autauga County Board of Education recognizes its responsibilities to identify, evaluate, and, if a child is determined to be eligible under Section 504, to afford access to a free and appropriate public education.

Students who are experiencing difficulties in school may be referred for consideration for evaluation and assessment for Section 504. As a parent, you may discuss your concerns regarding the progress of your child in school with the teacher(s), school counselor, or administrator for further consideration and review.

A referral for consideration of a 504 for your son or daughter begins the process to determine eligibility.

Students covered under by Section 504 are:

  • Students who have a mental or physical impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.
  • Students who have a record of a mental or physical impairment.
  • Students who are regarded as having a mental or physical impairment.

Autauga County School System provides services at each school for all students who meet the eligibility requirements.  For further information, contact the school's 504 Coordinator or the system's 504 Coordinator, Ms. Tisha Addison, (334) 365-5706,  Autauga County Board of Education, 153 West 4th Street, Prattville, Alabama 36067.
